Harvard
Thermal
and C&R Technologies worked together to create an
interface between Thermal Desktop®
and TASPCB,
now Ansys's TAS, a thermal analysis tool for printed circuit
boards. With this interface, users will be able to import
an ECAD database into TASPCB to perform a detailed analysis
at the board level, and then export a simplified representation
of the board and associated components to Thermal Desktop
to be included in a system level analysis.
In most thermal modeling tools, the simulation of a printed circuit board
requires that the user define its conductive properties in three
dimensions.These
properties are difficult, if not impossible, to calculate accurately
by hand.Since TASPCB
imports all traces and vias directly from the ECAD database,
the three-dimensional board model that is generated is extremely
accurate.TASPCB
can then export to Thermal Desktop accurate effective board
properties accounting for every trace and via on every layer
of the board.
The
TASPCB import is supported by Thermal Desktop version 4.7 or newer.
Thermal Desktop can be downloaded from C&R
Technologies download page.
